The 5-day “Wynn Gastronomy Extravaganza – A World Tour of Chili” and “The 3rd Macau-Qingdao Beer & Cultural Festival and the Macau-Qingdao Week” kicked off at the Wynn Palace South Lawn in Cotai yesterday, with the simultaneous East-meets-West events offering gastronomy and a string of activities until Sunday.

The world tour of chilli event features food, wine, culinary contests, and entertainment, as well as over 20 specialty F&B stalls, a handicraft market by social service organisations, a kids’ playground, live performances, and masterclasses by “world-renowned chefs”. The integrated resort (IR) operator is also hosting the “Chilli Cook off” for the first time, enabling contestants to create dishes highlighting the versatile flavours of chilli, and aims to promote the exchange of culinary cultures and provide a platform for local culinary professionals.

The company will also sponsor the UBCM Bartender of the Year 2023 – Savour the Seven Continents, organised by the Union Bartenders & Cocktails of Macau (UBCM).

Meanwhile, the 3rd Macau-Qingdao beer festival coincides with the 120th anniversary of Tsingtao Beer and showcases the two cities’ cultures; strengthens the cross-border integration of “tourism+”; and promotes the diversified and sustainable development of Macau as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, according to a Wynn statement provided at the event.

In a speech, Wynn Macau Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Frederic Luvisutto said that through the two events, the company aims “to present an international ‘culinary carnival’ to further build on Macau’s role as a UNESCO-designated ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’; strengthen the cross-border integration of ‘tourism+gastronomy’; and advance the diversified and sustainable development of Macau’s tourism industry’.
