The government is carrying out the designs for the construction of the Zone A land reclamation area’s education facilities earmarked for the new campuses of eight schools, which currently have their classrooms on the lower floors of high-rise buildings or “do not have a good campus”, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) said in a statement yesterday.

Four nearby plots in Zone A will be earmarked for education facilities. The government is planning to construct a “school village” comprising campus facilities on the four plots and two nearby stadiums. The government revealed last year that the school village will have eight schools and a youth activity centre.

Zone A, which is primarily being developed for public housing projects, is earmarked to have a population of 96,000.

Yesterday’s DSEDJ statement noted that the four education-facility plots in Zone A will be earmarked for the construction of campus facilities to be used by eight schools as well as the construction of an education activity centre.

The statement noted that the new campus facilities in Zone A will be used by schools that are currently running their classrooms on the lower floors of high-rise buildings or those that currently “do not have a good campus environment”.

According to the statement, the eight schools to be relocated to Zone A will be the Macau Residents School, Santa Madalena School, Choi Nong Chi Tai School, Lou Hau High School, Tong Sin Tong School, Hoi Fai School, Santa Teresa do Menino Jesus School, and Xin Hua School.

The statement underlined that concerning the schools to be relocated to Zone A, there are no nearby plots available for them in their current locations to move to to improve their campus environment.

The statement said that the government’s ongoing designs for campus-facility projects in Zone A are being carried out smoothly.

The statement underlined that the government is designing the new campus facilities for the eight schools in line with their respective needs in terms of sizes and spaces.

The statement said that after the new campus facilities in Zone A are completed, the government will rent them out to the respective eight schools for their operations.

According to the website of the Public Works Bureau (DSOP), a total of 12 public housing projects are currently being carried out there. The first public housing projects in Zone A are now scheduled to be completed next year.
