The “2023 MGS Entertainment Show”, organised by the Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association (MGEMA), kicked off at the Galaxy International Convention Centre in Cotai yesterday, the first day of which attracted over 3,000 professional visitors and tourists from all over the world, according to an MGEMA statement.

The show, covering a total exhibition area of over 3,700 square metres, comprises about 35 exhibitors. The annual event ends today.

MGEMA President Jay Chun (陳捷) said in a speech during the opening ceremony: “With the theme of “The Asian Pioneer Returns” for 2023, MGS is telling the “Macau Story” from the perspective of leisure technology, and bringing the first leading offline professional industry exhibition in Asia after 2020 to the leisure, entertainment and technology industry of Macau after many years of stagnation,” adding that with the aim of establishing a platform for discussion and exchange between the local participants and global industry players and exploring innovative solutions for Macau’s entertainment, technology, and tourism industries,  the two-day show aims to contribute to the recovery of Macau’s economy and enrich the connotation of the World Centre of Tourism and Leisure concept.

The MGS Summit was also held yesterday, during which senior executives from the six local integrated resort (IR) operators explored the main themes around a new “post-COVID” and post-VIP-dominant era of business in a panel session titled “Pioneering a New Macau”, with the focus on the mass market and spending on non-gaming initiatives, in line with the government’s “1+4” development strategy which aims for appropriate economic diversification by promoting four main industries – big health, modern finance, high-tech, and conventions and exhibitions, including culture and sport, alongside the local tourism and leisure industry, the statement said.

The MGS Entertainment Show, originally known as Macau Gaming Show (MGS), has been taking place in Macau since 2013.
