Drivers from the SJM Theodore PREMA Racing team recently met with students from the Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and the Macau Anglican College at the “Sportopia” gaming zone on the first floor of the Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) resort in Cotai, according to a SJM Resorts statement on Wednesday.
The meeting, which follows an “up close encounter” with Formula 4 (F4) drivers last week, was arranged by the integrated resort operator and featured racers Paul Aron, Dino Beganovic, Gabriele Minì and Charles Leong Hon Chio, demonstrating racing training through the “Speed Racer” virtual reality (VR) game, which gave students a glimpse into the world of professional racing, the statement noted.
The students also had a go on the simulator, the statement said. The statement added that the interactive session not only enabled them to immerse themselves in the Macau Grand Prix (MGP) culture, but also facilitated exchanges with the drivers and SJM Theodore PREMA Racing Team Principal Teddy Yip Jr. (小葉德利). Yip and the racers also posed for photos with students and gave out autographed posters.
Committed to fostering the growth of sports in Macau, the company has “strong connections” with the government and local communities, promoting a culture of sports, according to the statement.
