The Public Security Police (PSP) announced a shoplifting case during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect in his thirties is surnamed Ip. He told the police that he’s jobless
According to PSP spokesman Cheong Heon Fan, last Wednesday an employee of a supermarket on Avenida 1 de Maio reported a shoplifting case to the police. The employee saw Ip putting a box of mooncakes and a bag of washing powder worth a total of 629 patacas into his bag and attempted to leave without paying, and therefore intercepted him.
Ip was arrested at the scene. Under questioning, he admitted to the theft.
Ip has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, according to Leong.
