More than 60 percent of residents are against the hiring of non-resident commercial vehicle drivers, Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac said yesterday in the legislature.
Leong made the remarks when answering a question by indirectly-elected lawmaker-cum-businessman Kou Hoi In, on the first of a two-day Q&A session about his portfolio’s policy guidelines for next year.
In yesterday’s plenary session, Kou claimed that the government’s policies had been favouring the labour sector in recent years, adding that the policies had made the business environment difficult for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
