Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Leong said in a statement yesterday that a fire broke out on a hill in Bairro das Missões on Rua de S. Francisco Xavier near the prison in Coloane at 4:06 p.m. yesterday.
According to the statement, no one was injured or required hospitalisation in the suspected arson.
The statement noted that the fire fighters found flames and smoke on the hill and succeeded in putting out the blaze with fire extinguishers by 5:28 p.m.
The statement said that the burnt area is about 30 metres by 20 metres, and the police believe that the cause of the fire was “abnormal”.
The Judiciary Police have classified the case as suspected arson.
