A series of activities for visitors and residents will be held soon to explore Macau’s “tourism+” as the Light Up Macao 2023 will be launched at the beginning of next month, including exhibitions, food markets, and game booths in different districts in Macau, according to a Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) statement yesterday.
Subsidised by the MGTO’s 2023 Specific Financial Support Programme for “Community Economic Tourism Development”, the activities are organised by local communities and civic associations, with the aim of providing new tourist attractions with “tourism+” elements to boost the economies of the local communities, the statement said.
Light Up! F’art For U*
The event will be the extension of the Light Up Macao 2023, as there will be pop-up shows in random spots on the Light Up Macao route, which will provide art order delivery services on December 9, 10, 16, and 17, where users first order food online and then will be offered an art performance, the statement said.
Snowy Wonderland
As another extension of the Light Up Macao 2023, from December 9 to January 14 next year, there will be a simulated “ice” rink, light installation, playground set up at the defunct Macau Yat Yuen Canidrome, where family workshops and interactive games will also be held every Saturday and Sunday, the statement said.
Thai Cultural Festival
The “Thailand Cultural Festival 2023” will be held on December 9 and 10 in Rua de Abreu Nunes, where there will be stage performances, rice distribution activities and food stalls hosted by local Thai restaurants, and Thai monks will be invited to pray at the venue. The event aims to showcase Macau’s multicultural blend, attract residents and visitors to the community, and benefit businesses in the district, the statement said.
Creative Camp Marketplace
The market will be held on December 15-17, 22-24 and 30-31 from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Praça da Amizade. With a camp-style theme, the market will features cultural and food markets, creative workshops, art and painting experiences and performances, the statement said.
Residents and visitors can purchase unique original products, and have the opportunity to make handmade products themselves as a souvenir and taste the unique charm of Macau’s local culture, the statement said.
