The Pharmaceutical Supervision and Administration Bureau (ISAF) said in a statement yesterday that Batch No. 53062 of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug “Isofen 400mg tablets”, produced by Palestine-based Beit Jala Pharmaceutical Company, has been recalled from the local market.

The product is used to treat fever, pain, and inflammation. Its disintegration time was found not to meet the pharmacopoeia standards, the statement noted.

The bureau urged local pharmacies to stop selling it, the statement said, adding that the pharmacies have been notified by their respective drug importers to recall the product from the market.

The statement stressed that the bureau is paying close attention to the matter, adding that residents who have obtained the medicine from their neighbourhood pharmacies may consult their attending physician or pharmacist for “proper handling of the drug”.

Enquiries can be made by calling 8598 3533 during office hours.
