A local man with a criminal record for sexual harassment and exhibitionism was arrested in Rua de Cinco de Outubro on Sunday for sexually harassing two females in their twenties by touching their breasts earlier that day, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Upon receiving a report from the two local victims on Sunday, the Public Security Police identified the suspect as a 55-year-old surnamed Wong through the city’s CCTV system. Wong was arrested at about 9 p.m. that day, Lam added.
Lam quoted the two victims, who are friends, as saying that at about 6 p.m. on Sunday when they parked their car on Rua da Tercena and walked towards Rua dos Ervanários, a man suddenly approached them and asked them to pose for a photo with him. Both victims told the police that during the photo taking, the man, standing between them, touched their breasts. He also opened the collar of the shirt of one of the victims.
Lam said that Wong, who told the police that he is jobless, fled in the direction of Rua do Tarrafeiro after the two victims stopped his harassment.
Under questioning, Wong refused to cooperate with the police, Lam said, adding that Wong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a sexual harassment charge.
