SJM Resorts said in a recent statement that it hosted a complimentary month-long “Advanced Tennis Camp” at the University of Macau (UM) for young athletes in anticipation of the upcoming “2023 CTA Tour SJM Professional Finals (Macau) and National Tennis Championships” this month.
The camp, which is follows the success of the two-week summer “Tennis Experience Camp”, was hosted in collaboration with UM’s Office of Sports Affairs and aimed to “deepen young athletes’ enthusiasm and knowledge of tennis and nurture the next generation of local sports talent, according to the statement.
The statement noted that intensive training was provided by camp coaches, all of them UM tennis players, to 27 young players, which focused on enhancing their forehand, backhand, serving, and volleying skills.
Moreover, personalised guidance was provided to refine participants’ playing stance and technique. There were also mini-tournaments where “participants sharpened their footwork, rally play, offensive and defensive strategies, and learnt the essentials of scoring in competitive matches”, according to the statement.
The statement said that certificates and a mini plush toy of SJM Tourism ambassador “Sam the Rooster” dressed in tennis attire were presented upon course completion. Several participants were “praised for demonstrating their remarkable talent and deep passion for the sport”.
