A drunken Russian man damaged a Public Prosecutions Office (MP) motorcycle parked outside the Public Security Police (PSP) headquarters in Zape last week when he walked past the building, a PSP spokesperson said during a regular press conference on Friday.
The suspect is facing an aggravated property damage charge.
The Russian passport holder in his fifties surnamed Egorov told the police that he is unemployed. The spokesperson did not reveal the suspect’s residency status in Macau.
In the afternoon of Tuesday last week, the spokesperson said, an officer on duty near the main entrance of the PSP headquarters heard a loud noise coming from outside. Checking what was going on, saw a drunken man, Egorov, lying on a motorcycle that had fallen to the ground.
Consequently, the spokesperson said, the police called the Fire Services Bureau (CB), after which paramedics arrived at the scene and took the drunken man to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for examination and treatment.
Afterwards, the spokesperson said, the rider of the motorcycle emerged from the PSP headquarters and told the police officers investigating the incident there that the vehicle belongs to the Public Prosecutions Office. According to the spokesperson, the rider told the police that he had parked the motorcycle outside the PSP headquarters’ main entrance before submitting documents to the police.
The police later confirmed that the motorcycle’s wing mirrors, brake and exhaust pipe were damaged in the incident, the spokesperson said, adding that the repairs were estimated to cost between 300 patacas and 500 patacas.
After receiving outpatient treatment at the public hospital, the spokesperson said, Egorov went back to the PSP headquarters for questioning that night where he told the police that he had drunk a lot of alcohol earlier that day before walking unsteadily past the PSP HQ where he fell down, pushing over the motorcycle and ending up lying on it.
According to the spokesperson, Egorov denied having intentionally damaged the motorbike.
However, according to the spokesperson, the police decided to transfer Egorov to the Public Prosecutions Office where he faces an aggravated property damage charge.
