Netherland’s Tallon Griekspoor wins men’s MGM Macau Tennis Masters

       Russia’s Daria Kasatkina wins women’s


        Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor beat Croatia’s Borna Coric in Sunday’s inaugural exhibition event “2023 MGM Macau Tennis Masters”, which took place at the Macau East Asian Games Dome in Cotai, according to a statement by the organisers.

The statement noted that Griekspoor, who is ranked at No.23 in the ATP rankings, won the match with a dominant 6-3, 6-4 win over Coric, ranked at No.37 in the ATP rankings, in 61 minutes. The statement added that the 27-year-old did not lose a single service game throughout the weekend.

Griekspoor was quoted by the statement as saying: “Whether it is an exhibition or not, you always try your best to win”.

Meanwhile, two other matches took place on the same day. During the match for third place, the mainland’s Zhang Zhizhen, ranked at No.58, beat world No.10 Taylor Fritz 6-3, 7-6 (1) of the US in 67 minutes, according to the statement.

The statement added that during the women’s singles, which was the first match of the day, Russia’s Daria Kasatkina, who is ranked WTA No. 18 won against WTA No.36 Wang Xinyu from the mainland with a score of 6- 4, 6-4 in one hour and nine minutes.

A second edition of the tennis event is slated to take place next year, according to the statement.
