The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) yesterday that a non-local man committed suicide by hanging himself in a hotel room on Avenida 24 de Junho, the Judiciary Police said in a statement.
According to the statement, the man checked into the hotel room on Monday. Later that evening, hotel staff knocked on the door of the room but received no response. They returned to the room later that night and again received no response, so they used tools to open it. Upon entering, they discovered that he had hanged himself in the bathroom, prompting them to report the case to the police.
After examining the body, no other suspicious injuries were found. The statement said that a post-mortem examination will be performed.
This is the third case of suicide by hanging involving non-local men reported this week.
