The female non-resident worker who suffered hydrogen-sulphide poisoning last Monday in the toilet of a restaurant where she worked died in hospital on Friday after treatment to save her life had failed, the authorities have announced.
Details of the poisoning case were previously announced by the Health Bureau (SSM) in a statement on Tuesday last week, according to which the victim, a 26-year-old woman, was rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre after she was found unconscious on the toilet floor by her colleagues on Monday afternoon.
The SSM statement said at that time that the patient, who had been diagnosed as suffering from hydrogen-sulphide poisoning, was in a critical condition. The statement did not disclose the victim’s nationality.
The victim’s passing was announced by the Judiciary Police (PJ) in a statement on Friday night, which said that the woman died in the public hospital on Friday afternoon after treatment to save her life had failed.
The PJ statement also said that the woman’s body had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play.
