A man has been arrested for taking photos and videos of the legs of a female primary school student on the Light Rail Transit (LRT), Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Chan Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect in his twenties is surnamed Chan. He told the police that he works for a delivery company. The victim is under the age of 12.
According to Lei, the incident occurred on Thursday morning when the victim was taking the Light Rail Transit alone to school. She was then alerted by a male passenger that Chan was taking photos of her. The victim and the passenger stopped Chan and immediately informed LRT staff who reported the case to the police.
Upon reviewing the suspect’s phone, the police discovered over 1,000 photos depicting women’s legs and backs. Among these, there were 30 photos of the underage victim. In addition to the photos, the police also found two videos showing the victim.
Lei noted that the photos and videos did not show any private parts.
Under questioning, the suspect admitted to having been attracted to the victim’s legs, which led him to engage in voyeurism.
Chan has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing an illegal photo-taking and video recording charge, according to Lei.
