A local man committed suicide by burning charcoal in the bathroom of a flat in a residential building on Rua Nova do Comércio, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Wai Lok said in a statement yesterday.
No foul play was suspected in the victim’s death, the statement said, adding that the exact cause of death had yet to be confirmed by a forensic examination.
A PJ investigation showed that, according to the statement, two containers full of ashes were found next to the middle-aged victim who was found lying on the bathroom floor. No suicide note was found at the scene.
The case, which was referred by the Fire Services Bureau to the Judiciary Police at 5:58 a.m. yesterday, has been preliminarily classified as dead body found, according to the statement, which did not reveal who found the victim.
