Construction of a complex comprising the new headquarters of the Public Security Police (PSP) and its tactical unit in the Zone E1 land reclamation area has been completed, the Public Works Bureau (DSOP) announced in a statement yesterday.
Zone E1 lies off Pac On in Taipa between the Macau-Taipa Friendship Bridge and the Taipa Ferry Terminal.
The Public Security Police are currently headquartered in Zape. The current headquarters of their tactical unit, officially known as Special Police Unit, is located next to the Barrier Gate border checkpoint.
The new complex in Zone E1 will house the new Public Security Police headquarters and also the new police tactical unit headquarters.
The Public Security Police are yet to announce when they will move their headquarters and tactical unit headquarters to the newly-completed complex in Zone E1.
Yesterday’s statement announced that construction of the new complex, which was initially slated to be completed in March 2024, was completed yesterday, 45 working days ahead of schedule.
The project, which got off the ground in January 2021, was carried out by a consortium, consisting of Shing Lung Construction and Engineering Company Limited and Ad & C Engineering Construction Company Limited, for a price tag of 1.075 billion patacas.
The statement said that after completing the new building’s final survey inspection and formal acceptance and all respective administrative procedures, the Public Works Bureau will transfer the building to the Public Security Police.
According to the statement, the site where the new nine-storey complex is located covers about 7,000 square metres. The U-shaped complex comprising three buildings has a gross floor area of about 80,000 square metres. The complex also includes a two-storey underground car park.
According to the statement, the complex has an operational command room, a 999-emergency hotline operational control centre, press conference rooms, multifunction rooms, arms and ammunition storage rooms, detention cells, office spaces, and back-office equipment and devices for the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system.
In addition to the newly-completed PSP complex in Zone E1, construction of the new headquarters of the Macau Customs Service was completed in September last year there. The two new buildings are located next to each other.
The Macau Customs Service is currently headquartered at Barra at the south-western tip of the Macau peninsula. The Customs Service is yet to announce when it will move its headquarters to the newly-completed building in Zone E1.
