Addressing a Q&A session in the legislature’s hemicycle yesterday, Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said the government was considering the possibility of using inert waste as landfill to reclaim land off the northern coast of Taipa – a planned land reclamation area officially known as Zone D.
Rosario said the possible measure aimed to reduce pressure on the city’s only construction waste landfill site which has reached its full capacity.
Inert waste is rubbish which is neither chemically or biologically reactive and will not decompose.
Rosario made the remarks on the first of a two-day Q&A session about his portfolio’s policy guidelines for next year.
