The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 4:20 p.m. yesterday that a woman had hanged herself in her family flat in a residential building on Estrada da Areia Preta, according to a PJ statement yesterday.
According to the statement, a preliminary investigation conducted by PJ officers at the scene confirmed that the victim committed suicide by hanging herself in her bedroom in the flat.
The victim’s family members told the police that they discovered the victim had hanged herself in the bedroom at 3 p.m., so they immediately called the police, the statement said.
The statement pointed out that no suicide note was found at the scene.
A preliminary examination of the body confirmed that the victim’s injuries were consistent with those caused by hanging, and no suspected criminal injuries were found, the statement said, adding that the exact cause of death has yet to be determined by forensic examination.
The case has preliminarily been listed as dead-body found, according to the statement.

Man living alone found dead
The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 13:35 p.m. yesterday that a local man living alone was found dead yesterday morning at his home in a residential building on Rua dos Faitiões, according to a separate PJ statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the victim’s neighbour told the police that they hadn’t seen him for days and thus called the police for assistance.
Firefighters entered the flat with the help of tools and found a dead body, the statement noted.
Neither evidence of foul play nor a suicide note were found at the scene, the statement said.
Upon a preliminary examination of the deceased, no criminal-induced injuries were found on the body, but the cause of death is pending the outcome of a forensic examination, the statement added.
The case has initially been classified as a dead body found, according to the statement.
