Not only at weekends should the government prohibit tourist coaches from picking up passengers along Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro – Kou Ün Kai in Cantonese – but they should be banned from that street near the Ruins of St Paul’s every day, lawmaker-cum-unionist Kwan Tsui Hang said yesterday during an interview at her office.

The Transport Bureau (DSAT) announced last week that it would ban tourist coaches from picking up passengers along Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, starting from last Saturday.

The bureau also suggested tourists get on tourist coaches after visiting the St Paul’s Ruins by walking down Rua de Dom Belchior Carneiro to an underground car park for coaches in Praça do Tap Seac, which provides 28 parking spaces.
