The COVID-19 pandemic severely affected Macau's economy, the vitally important tourism, gaming, hospitality and retail sectors in particular, between early 2020 and late 2022.
Last year, the employed population's median monthly employment earnings rose by 2,500 patacas to 17,500 patacas a month in 2023, while employed residents' employment earnings rose by 1,000 patacas a month.
