A man from the mainland has been arrested for drug trafficking, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Leng Kam Lon said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The 54-year-old suspect surnamed Wu claimed to be a businessman.
According to Leng, the police were recently tipped off about drug activities in the city centre. They soon identified Wu as a suspect and intercepted him near a hotel in Cotai early yesterday morning. Police officers found three packets containing 2.02 grams of ketamine and two packets containing 3.13 grams of ecstasy hidden in Wu’s underwear.
The street value of the drugs is about 4,000 patacas, Leng noted.
Under questioning, Wu claimed to have a drug habit but refused to cooperate or reveal the source of the drugs. However, a urine test conducted on Wu yielded negative results for drug use, according to Leng.
Wu has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing drug-trafficking charges, Leng said.
