The local observatory forecast yesterday the highest daytime temperature later this week will reach around 24 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said in a statement that under the influence of an “easterly airstream”, the weather over the coming two days was set to be mainly cloudy with a few showers, while the lowest temperature in the middle and later part of this week was forecast to “quickly” rise to 18 degrees or even above.
As the temperatures are predicted to rise further this week, the weather was expected to be “relatively” warm and humid, with mist in the morning and evening, and some light rain, the statement noted.
Compared with the lowest temperature of 4 degrees last week and the expected temperature of 24 degrees later this week, the difference within just a week would be 20 degrees, the observatory said, adding that within the context of global warming, certain weather phenomena such as temperatures becoming “capricious and dramatic” could be expected to become more frequent.
Moreover, according to the statement, continuous wet weather may appear early in southern China this year, due to the influence of a maritime air mass. Consequently, the weather early next week was expected to become even warmer and wetter in Macau.
