A local woman has been apprehended for stealing a backpack she found on the bus, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Chan Hong said at a press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Iong, who is in her fifties, works as a cleaner.
According to Lei, a university student reported to the police on January 21 that she had left her backpack on a bus, containing a laptop and a tablet worth a total of 21,000 patacas. Subsequently, police officers identified Iong as the individual who had picked up the backpack, leading to her arrest.
Iong admitted to the crime. The police retrieved the laptop and the tablet from her flat.
Iong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft-by-finding charge, Lei said.
