The observatory has forecast that the mercury will drop to around 10 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday.

Friday marks Chinese New Year’s Eve.

A recent statement by the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said that under the influence of a winter monsoon, the temperature tomorrow and on Thursday was expected to drop “significantly” to a low of nearly 10 degrees, with northerly winds continuing to strengthen, and precipitation increasing.

The weather station said late last week that Macau would gradually come under the influence of a northeasterly monsoon, with slightly lower temperatures and stronger northerly winds and, therefore, today and tomorrow would see a shift to easterly winds, as well as cloudy, rainy and slightly cooler weather.

The observatory forecast cloudy weather today, with a few light showers and mist at first, while the temperature was predicted to range between 17 and 20 degrees.
