Sands China is welcoming the Chinese New Year (CNY) with a series of activities themed “Spring Festival in Full Bloom” hosted at both the erstwhile Iec Long Firecracker Factory and the Taipa Houses Museum.
The series of activities is among those hosted in Macau’s historic areas by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) together with the city’s six integrated resort operators to celebrate CNY.
The free-admission Spring Festival in Full Bloom is on until February 29. At the former firecracker plant, the featured attractions are a Spring Festival-themed holographic AI photobooth, a Gong Hei Fat Choi Interactive Installation, Spring Festival Family Workshops, which comprises 12 free sessions, and live music on February 24-25.
Moreover, the attractions at the Taipa Houses Museum feature a “light up the heart” game, a giant bouquet of roses, and live music that is scheduled on February 13-14.
Sands China’s Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai said in his speech that the launch of the simultaneous revitalisation projects at the venues creates “opportunities for parents and children to experience traditional Chinese culture in a fun way, while attracting couples to visit, thereby connecting these two outdoor spaces and generating a synergistic effect with the old Taipa Village area, adding charm to the community and invigorating the local economy”.
Meanwhile, after yesterday’s tour of attractions, IC President Leong Wai Man told reporters that the bureau has been encouraging the city’s integrated resorts to attract foot traffic to historic districts by introducing activities such as interactive installations and flower markets. She added that the short-term events hosted in the six historic areas during the Chinese New Year could enable visitors to learn more about the areas’ culture and special characteristics.
