Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario insisted yesterday that the government won’t give up its plan to build the Light Rail Transit (LRT) system also on the Macau peninsula, but he was quick to add that the route should not be decided yet.
Rosario made the remarks while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the annual ‘Walk for a Million’ charity event in Nape.
“The Taipa section [of the LRT] linking Seac Pai Van and Barra takes priority over the section on the [Macau] peninsula,” he said, adding that it would be a waste of resources to plan the peninsula route now as it was likely to face changes by the time construction starts in several years’ time.
