Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac insisted yesterday that the government will allow employers to hire non-resident delivery drivers only if locals are unwilling to fill the vacancies.

Currently, the hiring of non-local drivers – both for passenger and goods vehicles – is banned by the government.

Leong made the remarks during a seminar about labour affairs with local business associations hosted by the Macau Chamber of Commerce (ACM) at its headquarters in Nape.
