In the runup to the Chinese New Year (CNY), Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) celebrated with various community groups through diversified activities, according to a statement from the integrated resort (IR) operator earlier this month.
The statement noted that among the activities, GEG hosted two sessions of the Dancing Dragon DIY Workshop at the Galaxy Kidz Edutainment Centre.
The statement said that approximately 50 participants, including seniors from Our Lady of Mercy Home for the Elderly, members of the Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind, which are both from the Macao Holy House of Mercy; and members of the Macau Association of the Hearing Impaired, created auspicious dancing dragon pieces under the GEG Volunteer Team’s guidance.
Moreover, during the session with the Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind, volunteer team members learnt basic sign language from the association’s sign language interpreters to interact with the participants and extend CNY blessings, according to the statement. The participants also explored the festive decorations and CNY Bazaar at the integrated resort.
The statement noted that the bazaar featured over 30 local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and social service organisations. In collaboration with the Macao Young Entrepreneur Incubation Centre, GEG invited three local start-ups, together with three social service organisations, to participate as “GEG Invited” participants, which offered festive products. The statement added that GEG volunteers assisted with the social service organisation booths’ operation.
Moreover, in response to the United General Association of Macao Community Volunteers’ “Winter Warmth 2024” event, the statement said that GEG sent volunteers to visit senior users of the General Union of Neighbourhood Association of Macau’s (UGAMM, known as Kai Fong in Cantonese) Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance Service, to distribute festive gifts and CNY blessings.
