Artist Ada Zhang (張洪), from Sichuan province, is showcasing her works in a solo exhibition entitled “Facing the Sea” at the Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) gallery, with the event marking the second time that the painter is exhibiting works at the gallery following “Home’s Where The Heart Is” in 2022.
Zhang, who moved to Macau nearly a decade ago, specialises in watercolours, oils, drawing and sketching, according to a statement from the gallery.
Her current exhibition showcases a total of 39 watercolours, oils and acrylics, and mainly focuses on landscape paintings of Macau. The artist is keen to “use her own brush to depict the beauty of Macau and let everyone feel the atmosphere of the small town”, the statement noted. The title and theme, meanwhile, refer to her enthusiasm and being ready to “receive inspiration and ideas with the coming waves and the sea breeze”, the statement said.
Zhang, the statement added, heads the Macau Contemporary Watercolour Artists Association. She is also a member of the Macao Arts Association, Macao Youth Art Association, the Macao Painting Association, and the «Yü Ün» Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macau.
Zhang’s works won the Cheng Yang Bazhai Drawing Competition Award of Excellence in 2021 and were selected for the 2021 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay (GBA) Watercolour Biennale, according to the statement.
On until Saturday, one can visit the gallery from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
