The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has announced in a statement that the first two sessions of the Chinese New Year Fireworks Display, on the 3rd day and the 7th day of Chinese New Year (CNY) attracted more than 160,000 spectators.
Meanwhile, two sessions of the “Celebrations of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macau SAR – Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Dragon 2024” attracted a total of nearly 79,000 spectators, Sunday’s statement said.
MGTO has not yet announced the attendance figure for the Lantern Festival Fireworks Display, i.e., which took place last Saturday, the 15th and last day of the CNY festivities.
MGTO also presented interactive games themed as “New Year’s Beast Blasting” and “Spring Festival couplets” on its WeChat mini-programme – MGTO’s Interactive Zone, which attracted more than 68,000 people participating in the lucky draw during the promotion period, the statement said.
The office also collected opinions from residents and visitors in questionnaires through different channels to learn more about the public’s feedback about the CNY events and their impact, so that improvements can be made concerning the events’ attractions, promotional campaigns, contents and formats in the future.
MGTO said it would continue to promote the development of “tourism+” in Macau, which aims to guide tourists to visit and consume in different areas of the city, thereby enriching their experience of visiting Macau and accelerating the recovery of Macau’s tourism economy.
