The Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) forecast yesterday that the weather will become cold from tonight, with the minimum temperature expected to be 10°C or below at the weekend, while the mercury next week will rise again.
The statement urged members of the public, particularly seniors, children and people with chronic illnesses, to bundle up and stay warm.
The bureau also suggested others measures to protect oneself from the freezing weather such as being fully aware of the great temperature differences during the day and at night, using heaters carefully and maintaining indoor ventilation, as well as consulting social welfare services if necessary.
The bureau also pointed out that cold weather may trigger hypothermia and respiratory or cardiovascular diseases, especially among vulnerable groups.
