Former anti-corruption chief and policy secretary for social affairs and culture Cheong U and veteran educator Lei Pui Lam top this year’s honours list, the government announced yesterday.
According to the announcement, U and Lei were awarded the Decoration of Honour – Gold Lotus, Macau’s second highest decoration. The highest decoration – Grand Lotus – was not awarded this time.
U is retired. Lei is one of Macau’s 12 deputies to the National People’s Congress (NPC) in Beijing. He formerly headed the Macau Chinese Educators Association.
