The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) urged the public in a statement on Saturday not to eat a UK-made aubergine pickle product which may contain shards of glass. The statement did not say whether the products of the problematic batch have been found to be on sale in Macau.

The statement did not identify the exact area in the UK where the products were manufactured.

According to the statement, the bureau was informed by the UK’s Food Standards Agency that a 312 gramme aubergine pickle product, batch number 3172, which is called “Aubergine Pickle”, under the brand of “Patak’s” may contain shards of glass.

The statement said after the bureau was informed about the problematic product it immediately issued a alert to the local food trade and dispatched officials to inspect the market.

The statement urged consumers to stop eating the product immediately if they are in possession of it, adding that shops should also immediately cease supplying or selling the product if they have it on their shelves.

Moreover, the statement also reminded local importers to keep delivery records so that the local authorities can trace the sources and flows of problematic food products when necessary.
