US pro-golfer John Catlin claimed victory in the final round of the International Series Macau yesterday, winning a tense battle against Spain’s David Puig.

Catlin, Wikipedia notes, plays on the European Tour and the Asian Tour, winning three times and five times on each tour respectively. He turned professional in 2013.

A statement on the Asian Tour website yesterday noted that the event was Catlin’s fifth victory on the Asian Tour, his first since the 2019 Thailand Open, and his first success in The International Series.

During the trophy presentation at Wynn Palace in Cotai yesterday, the event emcee noted that Catlin finished at 23 under par, winning US$360,000. Remarking on his win, the 33-year-old told event attendees: “It feels incredible. It’s been a great week”.

He also said that the tournament was “one of the best tournaments I’ve ever played in my whole eleven years as a professional golfer”.

The series, which kicked off on Thursday, was presented by integrated resort operator Wynn and featured 20 top players from the LIV Golf League and the Asian Tour. This year marked the debut of the Asian Tour-sanctioned event in Macau, which had a prize fund of US$2 million.
