The 2024 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum & Exhibition (2024MIECF) kicks off on Thursday, with the event featuring an enlarged exhibition area, exhibitors, and booths.

The 2024MIECF will run through Saturday at Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao, themed “Reaching the Dual Carbon Goals through Green Transformation”.

The exhibition area has been increased by 20 percent to 12,000 square metres from last year’s 10,000 square metres, Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) President Vincent U U Sang said in a press conference announcing event details at The Venetian Macao yesterday.

U said that this year’s event, which marks its 16th edition, comprises 416 exhibitors and 562 booths across five major exhibition areas, representing an increase of three percent and 14 percent respectively.

The IPIM president added that attendees will come from over 30 countries and regions, with the number of international exhibitors increased to 62, 28 of them from Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).

The three-day event will also see the new “Green Smart Industries Exhibition Area”, which features smart city solutions and green technology innovation projects, and the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area [GBA] Environmental Protection Industries Exhibition Area”, according to U.

Moreover, U said that the Macao-Hengqin Synergy Business Matching Session on Environmental Protection has been further expanded to public organisations, with 33 participants slated to attend the sessions.

Also featured at the upcoming event are four “Green Forum” sessions, which will be held on two consecutive days, the IPIM statement yesterday added.  Focusing on environmental issues, over 30 experts and scholars from the mainland, PSCs, European countries, Southeast Asian countries, Hong Kong and Macau have been invited to join these sessions.

“The 2024MIECF will continue to function as a regional green business platform to help the environmental sectors in Macau, the GBA, and even PSCs explore green opportunities in the market”, U remarked.
