Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a statement earlier this week that six of its staff enrolled in its Back-to-School programme who achieved outstanding academic scores took part in the “Mountain & City Experience” Anhui History and Culture Study Tour sponsored by Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEDJ) and supported by Seong Fan School of the Macau Chamber of Commerce (ACM).
The Back-to-School programme, the statement said, offers staff who left school prematurely “an opportunity to gain their High School Diploma in-house by undertaking formal education alongside their employment at Melco”.
The integrated resort (IR) operator said in the statement that the five-day study tour was held between March 16-20, with the trip’s itinerary featuring Mount Huangshan, frequently recognised as “the loveliest mountain of China”, which has played an important role in the nation’s history of art and literature, and the historical Tunxi District Ancient Street, among others.
The statement said that the students had a chance to understand traditional methods of fishing in Anhui, and learn about the Huimo inking method, and tea making techniques through workshops. They also visited groups in need in collaboration with local charitable groups, the statement added.
Among the students, all employed at Studio City, table games dealer Mandy Zeng and table games pit supervisor Hicadi Wong were quoted as saying that they were grateful for the trip, which they enjoyed and enabled them to learn more about their country’s history and culture.
