The University of Macau (UM) said in a statement last week that its Faculty of Social Sciences’ Department of Government and Public Administration Associate Professor Wen Bo has recently received the William E. Mosher and Frederick C. Mosher Award for an article that he co-authored, which was also chosen as the best article of 2023 by experts in the Public Administration field.
The award is presented by the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).
Entitled “Advancing the Frontiers of Genomic Public Administration: From Genetics to Administrative Attitudes, Behaviours, and Practices”, the article was co-authored with fellow award recipients University of Southern California (USC) Prof. Tang Shui-Yan and Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) Research Assistant Prof. Tao Lei.
The statement noted that the article “proposes an integrated research framework linking genetics, psychology, and public administration, with a focus on introducing perspectives and methodologies of behavioural genetics into research on public administration”, among others.
The article was published in the Public Administration Review (PAR), which is published by the ASPA. The statement said that publishing his research article in this leading journal and being the first Asian (Chinese) scholar to receive the award “underscores the recognition Wen has received from the international public administration community”.
A recent separate statement from EdUHK added that this was the first time Asian scholars have won the award since its establishment.
