The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) said in a recent statement that lecturer David Charles Wiley Jr. has been invited by the WorldSkills Organisation to serve as the “Expert Lead” for the Bakery-47 project in the 47th WorldSkills Competition, which is slated to take place from September 10 to 15 in Lyon, east-central France.

The statement noted that the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) will lead a delegation to participate in the event.

The position, the statement said, is “crucial in providing guidance, management, and supervision to the team of experts” throughout the contest. Wiley has been an expert in the project since the 45th WorldSkills Competition in 2019, having trained and provided guidance to participants to achieve “outstanding outcomes”.

Meanwhile, the statement said that UTM provides training in five specific skill areas for participants of the competition: Bakery, Confectionery/Patisserie, Restaurant Service, Cooking (Western), and Hotel Reception.
