The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement on Friday that it has launched its “Wondrous Encounters Flash Sale Offer” for four programmes: Grand Opening: Jungle Book reimagined, Sino-Portuguese Concert, circus theatre production Duck Pond, and the contemporary ballet Sleeping Beauty.
The statement said that the sale is on until April 19 and offers 30 percent off on tickets to the programmes, the statement noted.
The statement added that both the “Grand Opening: Jungle Book reimagined” and “Duck Pond” now have additional performances, which are at 8 p.m. on May 4 and 3 p.m. and May 19 respectively.
The statement said that the festival will kick off with “Jungle Book reimagined”, a dance theatre production by English dancer and choreographer Akram Khan, which is an adaptation of the classic by Nobel Laureate in Literature Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936).
“Duck Pond” by Circa, meanwhile, is an adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s ballet Swan Lake that draws from Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling, the statement said, while “Sleeping Beauty” will be jointly presented by Spanish National Dance Award winner Marcos Morau and the long-standing Lyon Opera Ballet from France.
The festival will close with the “Sino-Portuguese Concert”, which will see David Huang (黃大煒) share the stage with Portuguese psychedelic rock band Capitão Fausto, according to the statement.
