A Filipina domestic helper has been arrested for aiding and abetting an overstayer from the Philippines, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The 44-year-old suspect is surnamed Viesca.
According to Lei, during a regular patrol on Monday at an entertainment venue, the police discovered a Filipino overstayer. Lei noted that the Filipino had entered Macau on November 20 last year and been renting a room in the San Kio district since February 15.
The police went to the flat and found Viesca who was the legal tenant of the flat. Under questioning, Viesca admitted to the crime of aiding and abetting, and told the police that she had been collecting a monthly rent of HK$2,000 from the overstayer for the room.
The case has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where Viesca faces a charge of aiding and abetting.
