The Macao Polytechnic University’s (MPU) badminton team took home four golds and one silver during the recent 2024 Macau Open Badminton Championships, the public university said in a statement yesterday.
The team won gold in the Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles; the statement noted. The team also won silver in the Mixed Doubles.
The statement said that M.Sc. in Sports and Physical Education student Tang Xinyu, a first-time participant, was crowned winner of the Women’s Singles, defeating her opponent with a score of 2-0. Moreover, a member of both the Women’s Doubles and Mixed doubles winning team was M.Sc. in Sports and Physical Education student Xu Zhen.
BPhEd student Chai Zijie, meanwhile, took home the silver in the Mixed Doubles. The statement did not mention the winners of the Men’s Doubles.
The championship event was jointly organised by the Badminton Federation of Macau and Wynn Macau, according to the statement.
