The Public Security Police (PSP) announced in a statement yesterday that they have fined 48 for riding a kick scooter or an e-scooter on public roads, including pavements, during the first quarter of this year.

Macau’s Road Traffic Law defines a public road as comprising a vehicular roadway and/or pavements at the side.

The statement pointed out that the Road Traffic Law bars any public road users from riding a kick scooter or a motorised scooter, i.e., an electric kick scooter, except at locations expressly permitted by the authorities. Offenders face a fine of 600 patacas.

The statement underlined that the police will continue to strengthen their law enforcement against riding a kick scooter or motorised scooter on public roads, with the aim of ensuring the safety of pedestrians and other road users.
