The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) issued a special weather reminder yesterday that under the persistent influence of a trough of low pressure, the weather will remain unstable in Macau, and frequent showers and thunderstorms are expected in the next few days, with heavy rain and strong gusty winds, with the possibility of flooding in low lying areas.

In the middle of this week, the observatory expects, with the trough weakening a bit, that there will be fewer showers and thunderstorms, but there will still be showers and thunderstorms in the latter part of the week.

The observatory urges the public to pay attention to weather changes and to take appropriate measures before going out.

The Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) reminded business operators in low-lying areas in a separate statement yesterday that they have to pay close attention to the latest weather information released by the local weather station and to take appropriate flood prevention measures, such as placing goods at a higher level, installing floodgate panels and other flood protection facilities, in order to avoid loss of goods and equipment.
