A Nepali slashed his compatriot with a knife after failing to collect a debt from him in Taipa yesterday evening, the Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement last night.
The man fled the scene after the attack before he turned himself in to the police a few hours later.
According to the statement, both the attacker and victim are non-resident workers, aged 30 and 40 respectively.
According to the statement, the case occurred on the street near Nam San Garden and Hipódromo Garden in Taipa shortly before 6:30 p.m. yesterday when the suspect asked his compatriot to repay a debt.
After failing to collect the debt, the statement said, the suspect attacked the victim with a knife, after which he fled the scene.
Firefighters and paramedics rushed the victim, who sustained injuries on his forehead and chest, to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre on the peninsula for emergency treatment.
According to the statement, the suspect turned himself in at a police station in Taipa last night where he admitted to attacking the victim.
There were no updates about the victim’s condition as of last night, when he was still undergoing emergency treatment at the hospital, informally known as Peak Hospital in Chinese.
