The Macau Customs Service announced yesterday that its officers caught two male mainlanders on board a wooden vessel outside a pier in the Inner Harbour near Barra on Monday when they were attempting to smuggle 1.2 million items of various kinds of electronic products and edible bird’s nests weighing 102 kilogrammes, with the goods valued at 15 million patacas.
The two male mainlanders told customs officers that they had been paid 4,000 yuan by “someone” to smuggle the goods.
Customs officers also caught a local lorry driver who had been paid 600 patacas to deliver the goods to the pier.
