Studio City has been designated as the first Certified Autism Centre (CAC) in Macau for its attractions such as Golden Reel, Super Fun Zone and Studio City Water Park by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), according to a Melco Resorts & Entertainment statement earlier this week.

The statement said that the designation recognises organisations that have successfully completed extensive training from leading autism experts, while each centre ensures all families with autism and other sensory disorder sufferers are well accommodated.

The certification, which acknowledges that the integrated resort’s attractions are dedicated to, and well-equipped for serving autistic guests and their families, noting that at least 80 percent of its customer-facing staff in the aforementioned attractions are trained and certified in autism.

Studio City Senior Vice President and Property General Manager Kevin Benning was quoted by the statement as saying: “We strive to work collaboratively with IBCCES in training our colleagues – to help them develop a better understanding of autism and other neurodivergences, which enables us to further elevate our guest service experience at Studio City’s world-class attractions.”

IBCCES Board Chairman Myron Pincomb was quoted as saying: “This designation underscores Studio City’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment, setting a new standard for accessibility within the Macau attractions industry”
