Galaxy to host Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao

The Macau leg of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League’s preliminary round is set to take place from May 28 to June 2 at the Galaxy Arena in Cotai, with eight teams set to compete.

The Women’s Volleyball Nations League is now in its sixth edition and will be held from May 14 to June 23, with Macau among the six cities hosting the volleyball event’s preliminary matches to be held from May 14 to June 16. Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) is the competition’s official “presenter” and one of the three co-organisers.

The finals, meanwhile, will take place in Bangkok from June 20 to 23.

Details of the upcoming Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB)-sanctioned event, titled Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), were announced during a press conference at Galaxy International Convention Centre (GICC) yesterday. It is jointly organised by the Sports Bureau (ID), GEG and the Volleyball Association of Macao.

The matches will be held in the format adapted in 2022, with 16 national teams consisting of 11 core teams and 5 challenger teams. The competing teams comprise China, the Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2023 runners-up; Brazil, the silver medal winners in women’s volleyball at the Tokyo Olympics; Italy, the winners of the Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2022; and teams from the Dominican Republic, France, Japan, the Netherlands and Thailand,.

In his speech, Sports Bureau (ID) President Pun Weng Kun said that the experience and rapport built through three years of cooperation with the co-organisers will give more advantages to the event in terms of the venue, organisation, and marketing and allow the event to present a refreshing array of thrilling matches.
