The Health Bureau (SSM) said in a statement yesterday that a host of activities will be held to mark the “Community Awareness Day on Infectious Diseases” on May 11 and 25 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. respectively, in order to raise public awareness of the prevention of infectious diseases.
The activities will be co-organised with the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (commonly known as Gung Luen) and the Women’s General Association of Macau (commonly known as Fu Luen).
The event will be held at Gung Luen’s community centre in Toi San on May 11 and at Fu Luen’s services building on Rua da Barca on May 25.
Free and anonymous rapid human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and Hepatitis C tests will be available for residents aged 18 or above at the event site, with no need to register in advance, the statement said, adding that both rapid tests only require a small amount of blood from the fingertip, and the result will be known on the spot in about 15 minutes.
For those who test positive, staff of the Health Bureau will arrange appointments for them to visit the Special Preventive Services Unit of the Health Bureau for further confirmatory tests and referral for treatment.
According to the statement, the activity aims to promote awareness of prevention of infectious diseases to the general public, including HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), dengue fever and scrub typhus, through the game booths. Participants will receive small gifts after completing the games.
